You can begin organizing your committee at our site now. First email what you want published on your committee blogspot to dfl.sd67@gmail.com. It will then be published on the blogspot. There is a call for action at the communications committee blogspot.

SD 67 Meeting Notice

6:30 - 7:30

Officer and Director Orientation*

- Welcome and introductions
- Orientation to the DFL organization
- Director job description
- Formation of standing committees

7:30 - 8:30

General Meeting (time certain)*

- Welcome and introductions
- Orientation to SD 67 and the DFL
- Discussion of SD 67 direction and goals
- What you can do to help!

* Everyone is welcome to attend either portion of the meeting, but the first half will focus on the officers and directors of SD 67.

SD 67 Director Responsibilities

1. Help establish and maintain the strategic plan of the Senate District

2. Actively participate in at least one standing committee and act as liaison between the standing committees and the Executive Committee

3. Create action objectives in the standing committees that further the strategic plan and provide leadership in the committee for the execution of established action objectives

4. When appropriate, act as a representative of the Senate District organization

Suggested Standing Committees

  • Affirmative Actionreach out to underrepresented communities and identify barriers that inhibit participation in Senate District and other DFL activities.

  • Campaign Supportorganize precinct chairs and other DFL activists in support of DFL endorsed candidates. Organize activities and events in support of DFL endorsed candidates.

  • Communicationsmaintain and improve communications with DFL activists and the general public. Organize and execute mailings to DFL activists, letter writing campaigns to local media, and other mass communication activities.

  • Community Involvementidentify issues that affect the Eastside and provide recommendations regarding how the Senate District organization or our elected officials could help improve these issues

  • Constitution and Policymaintain the Constitution and liaise with the other standing committees to make sure policies suggested to the Executive and Central Committees are in keeping with the letter and spirit of the mission and Constitution of SD 67.

  • Fundraising organize and execute fundraising activities for the Senate District, including the annual chili feed. Liaise with donors to SD 67, including our local Legislators and the State Fair Ice Cream Booth.

  • Program Committee find speakers and organize activities to enhance the monthly meetings.
